Product description
The detailed carving on this mill tells a story of the Breadfruit Tree.
On the island of Ngibtal, near Ngiwal, lived a female Demi-god named Dirrach-debungel. For teaching the people of Palau how to grow taro, the gods rewarded her with a magical breadfruit tree that bared a hollow trunk and a broken limb. This tree’s good fortune drove in large quantities of fish with each wave right to her front yard. The villagers on the island were jealous of the woman’s constant supply of fish. They decided to cut down the tree in hopes that they would increase the number of fish for themselves. Instantly the ocean came up through the hollow stump and flooded the entire island leaving Dirrachedebungel as the only survivor. She later took the name of Milad and gave birth to four children, who founded the villages of Melekeok, Koror, Ngeremlengui and Aimeliik.
*The Breadfruit Story Peppermill comes in one size (13 " INCHES).
